Kannarpady,Udupi: St Mary’s English Medium School observed the Annual Day celebration of the Secondary section on 22 November 2019 at St Mary’s Auditorium. Honorable guests were grandly welcomed and escorted by School band. The event started off with a prayer by student choir of Senior Secondary section. Most Rev. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, the Bishop of Udupi Diocese presided over the function. Rtn PHF Vincent D’Costa , the Principal, Rotary Educational Institutions, Moodubidri was the esteemed guest of honor. V. Rev. Fr Valerian Mendonca, the correspondent of St Mary’s group of Institutions welcomed the guests and audience and gave his opening remarks. The guests were uniquely felicitated by flower pots. Rev. Fr Johnson Sequeira, the Principal of the school presented the annual report of the school’s academic and co scholastic activities through a descriptive Power Point Presentation. The senior most English Teacher of the school Mrs Floria Roshana was honored by School Management on the proud occasion of her superannuation. Mrs Linet Castelino read the letter of appreciation. Mrs Florina Roshana during her acceptance speech extended her heartfelt words of gratitude to all the correspondents and Principals for their valuable guidance and encouragement throughout her teaching career. The outstanding academic performers of the academic year 2018-19 were rewarded with Endowment prizes. Rtn PHF Vincent D’Costa, the guest of honor proudly appreciated the academic and cultural achievements of the school and stressed on the burning need of character formation and skill enhancement among young learners through effective parenting and value embedded school culture. The school top scorers, Special achievers and Best out going students were honored by the Chief Guest. His Excellency Most Rev. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo emphasized on imparting the value based quality education in schools for the noble cause of nation building. He also appealed teachers and parents to focus on the spiritual solidarity and happiness of children through smart mentoring and careful supervision. Mr Irvin Alva ,the vice President of Parish Pastoral Council ,Mother of Sorrows Church ,Udupi ; Rev Fr Stevan Fernandis, Asst Parish Priest , Mother of Sorrows Church ,Udupi and Mrs Rita Quadros ,the Vice Principal adorned the stage. SPL Master Atheeth and ASPL Master Aaron were also present on the stage. The members of School Management Committee were present on the occasion. Mrs Roopa Ashok, the coordinator of High School section proposed the vote of thanks. Students of High School and Senior Secondary section presented variety cultural programmes on the theme ‘Sangam’ highlighting the spirit of harmonious co living and art of living with differences. Various dance forms of India along with the traditional and cultural diversities were staged through creative thematic dances and skits. The most impressive performance showcased by the students under the guidance of teachers immensely fascinated the large audience. The event got concluded with the School anthem.
